Things to do when you visit the Shaks
If you just want to relax, visit with friends and family, ride bikes, cook out, look at the stars, watch TV, play horse shoes, volley ball, ladder ball, take walks or hike in the woods, you need not leave the Shak.
However, if you want other activities, their is plenty to do nearby. Here are some things others have enjoyed and we recommend.

Take a day trip to Eisenhower State Park for Swimming Eisenhower State Park has a beautiful lagoon like beach, surrounded by cliffs and boulders, a must see. Be prepare to walk down steep flights of stairs to get there, but it is worth it.

Go Swimming:
The best option for swimming is to have Island View Boat Rentals shuttle you to the islands for a real Florida beach like experience at Wood Island. Preston Bend State Parkis also a very nice place to swim, and is closer than Eisenhower State Park. Island View Boat Rentals can be contacted at (903)267-1082.
Go Mountain Biking The Fishak is surrounded by trails that are great for mountain bikers. We will take a group out on the trails with advanced notice, and depending on fitness level/experience, determine the length and location of the ride. If you are interested email us, and bring your bikes and helmets. We have four mountain bikes at each Shak too. tall.
Take out your own boat – and rent a guest slip It is best to guest slip your boat or jet ski, or launch your boat at Mill Creek Marina: (903) 786-2227. This marina is only 5 minutes away and is closest to the Islands and the best parts of the lake to swim, fish, and have fun.
Rent a boat, and tour the lake The best place to rent a boat is Island View Boat Rentals at Mill Creek. You are closest to the Islands at from Mill Creek Marina. To reserve call (903)267-1082. Also you can rent a pontoon boat at Flowing Wells Marina. Flowing Wells is the closest Marina to the Shaks. Call 903-786-2930
Go Birdwatching, Hiking, Mountain Biking, Fishing The Fishak is located on the Northern border of the Hagerman Wildlife Preserve. 12,000 acres of marsh, wetlands, prairie, and woods. Recreational opportunities at the Refuge include Hunting, Fishing, Bird and Wildlife observation, photography, hiking and mountain biking.
Rent Jet Skiis . At Texoma Rentals you will find several places on the lake to rent Jet Skiis. They are a blast and they are safe as long as you are sober and aware. A very fun way to tour the lake.
Go Golfing There are many golf courses around the lake but if you really want a treat take a day trip to Chickasaw Pointe. This 7085-yard Championship layout has rolling hills, picturesque lake views, exquisitely manicured Bermuda grass fairways and Champion Ultra Dwarf greens. This ranked par 72 course public access course is only a 40 minute drive from the Shak.

Go Gamble Only 30 minutes from the Shak is a very new, very nice, and very big Casino called Choctaw in Durant, Oklahoma. Choctaw is a perfect rainy day option for the adults. Check there concert and show schedule too as they often have Las Vegas quality shows and entertainment.
